'Emergency On Planet Earth' Playalong (Jamiroquai)
For more music using the Fender Rhodes, inspired by Herbie Hancock and Jamiroquai, check out Resolution 88: https://resolution88.bandcamp.com/music / resolution88 / resolution88 http://www.tomogradymusic.com Here it is, the title track from Jamiroquai's first album. I've taken my time to get to this track. I think I probably broke the auto-reverse function on my cassette walkman listening to this track on loop. The track actually started life sounding like this: • Jamiroquai - Emergency On Planet Earth - L... Sure, it's funky - but it's far more derivative and definitely less original than the album version we all know and love. Bearing in mind that early version was recorded live in April 1993 and the finished album was released in June the same year, the final version of the track must have taken shape in the studio very quickly! The next question is, what did Toby use on this track? Was it a Rhodes or his Clavinet Duo? What kind of wah pedal or autowah did he use? At Club Citta, Japan 1993, Toby used the Clavinet Duo: • Jamiroquai | Emergency on Planet Earth | L... In Milan, Italy 1993, Toby used the Rhodes: • Jamiroquai - Emergency on Planet Earth (Li... At Phoenix Festival 1997, Toby used his Rhodes: • Jamiroquai - Emergency on Planet Earth (Li... You can hear him play some chords on the Rhodes, then switch the wah pedal on and check it's working before they start. During the track you can also see him using the wah pedal. It looks like a Crybaby and because it's either white or chrome it might well be the Bass Crybaby 105Q or the Crybaby 535Q. For this video, I used a standard Crybaby wah through the preamp effects loop and pedalled every beat of the song, just like Toby did. This video was recorded: Rhodes suitcase mk1 88 - (Crybaby in preamp effects loop) - Radial Stereo JDI - Apogee Duet - Logic. (Original song 'Emergency On Planet Earth' credits: Jay Kay, T.
