The rules are clear: Anyone wishing to enter or exit Lamin City must make offerings and a cemani chicken on the bridge. Otherwise, their journey will never reach its destination. --- Stories of Workers from Pati For the past five years, several Pati residents have admitted to working in Lamin City. They say it looks like a real city—there are markets, town squares, houses, and people going about their normal activities. But there is one taboo that must not be violated: Upon returning home, they are strictly forbidden from looking back. Those who work there receive wages in real-world money. They can spend it, save it, and live as usual. But they never dare to share details about the city, as if something is holding them back. --- Ustad from Pati There is also a Ustad from Pati who is trusted to teach the Quran in Lamin City. Every year, he returns once to visit his family. It was as if he had become accustomed to a world that no one else could see. --- The Story of a Fuso Truck Driver One night, a Fuso truck driver received a large cement order. He was asked to stop near a small town square on the edge of the forest. Shortly after, two cars arrived to pick him up and escort his truck into the forest. Before entering, he was given a condition: “Don’t look back, no matter what happens.” At first, he complied. The road felt strange—sometimes like a dirt road, sometimes like a city street. The lights were dim, and voices sounded distant. But human curiosity is hard to contain. Midway along the road, he glanced back. In an instant, everything changed. He saw not a city, not a road, but a dark, densely treed forest. And before he could comprehend what had happened— CRASH! His truck hit a large tree. When morning came, he contacted the police. He explained that the night before he had delivered cement to a town, but when he looked back, all he saw was forest. The arriving police were confused: The Fuso truck was in the middle of dense forest—a logically impossible place for such a large vehicle to enter. Finally, the surrounding trees were cut down to remove the truck.
