Have you ever imagined exploring the canyons of the São Francisco River, formed over 65 million years ago? These gigantic rock formations hold many stories that deserve to be explored and known; you'll find no shortage of fun here! Many people, when we talk about Alagoas, immediately think of Maragogi and its beautiful crystal-clear natural pools. However, there is much more to explore in this rich region full of natural diversity. The São Francisco River is one of the most important rivers in Brazil. Its source is located in Minas Gerais, its waters flow through Bahia and Pernambuco, and its mouth is in Alagoas and Sergipe. During this long journey of this blue giant, also known as Velho Chico, we encounter countless breathtaking landscapes, one of which is the canyons found in the Piranhas region of Alagoas, about 260 km from Maceió. You can reach the Canyons in several ways, the most recommended being by catamaran. These are large, usually two-story boats offering excellent views of the landscape, especially for sightseeing tours. You can book a tour at various restaurants in the city of Piranhas or on Dulce beach. Excursions are available at various times throughout the day, depending on the time of year, rainy periods, and demand. It's advisable to check all prices and schedules before booking. This tour to the Canyons lasts approximately 3 hours, divided into 3 parts: 1 hour to get there, 1 hour to enjoy the Canyons, and 1 hour to return. Along the way, you can see the tri-border area, where you'll observe the division between Bahia, Alagoas, and Sergipe.
