Built by ROBERT WYNN ( son of John Wynn of Gwydir - A family who claimed descent from THE WELSH PRINCELY DYNASTIES OF OWAIN GWYNEDD and COLLWYN AP TANGNO ) between 1576 - 1585, and who married DOROTHY ( who came from a longer and better established pedigree than that of the WYNN's and counted EDNYFED FYCHAN among her ancestors ) He had entered the service of TUDOR DIPLOMATS and travelled to the most splendid ROYAL COURTS OF EUROPE before marrying Dorothy and together they made this house a celebration of his life, times and wealth and through the decor of the mansion wanted to show how proud they were of their connection to WELSH KINGS, PRINCES and the FOUNDER OF THE 5TH NOBLE TRIBE OF NORTH WALES. The condition of the house deteriorated over the years, but CADW (the Welsh Government's historic environment service) bought the property in 1993 and extensively renovated it and redecorated it to resemble its 1665 condition with Renaissance gardens.
