KISS FM Monaghan - 30/12/1988 - Last Day Of Broadcasting - 10am to 2pm

In March 1988, KISS FM began broadcasting from Old Cross Square in Monaghan Town into the Belfast area, playing a mixture of pop, rock and acid house music. The Irish Broadcasting and Wireless Telegraphy Act of 1988 effectively closed pirate radio stations by making it illegal to advertise on or support them financially, under the threat of stiff penalties. KISS FM made its final broadcast on Friday 30th December 1988, with Tom Hardy signing off the air shortly after 6pm that evening, to the sound of car horns being beeped by the people of Monaghan to show their support.
