Seaskin Nova vs Bare HD2 Expedition, 1st comparison drysuit episode 10.

With the Bare HD2 Expedition being the flagship of my drysuits, outlasting, performing and user friendly, it’s been tough running a side by side comparison without being a lot bias. Donning and diving the Bare is like a nice pair of broken in running shoes. They just feel right. The Seaskin Nova has had a rough and steep hill to climb to even feel like it’s in the realm of the Expedition. In the last few weeks I have averaged 20-24 hrs on 3 different suits. Multiple tech and ccr courses, shallow and deep dives to 200’ all 3 suits have been outstanding (well the Bare tech dry has a leaky wrist seal now….). The Bare HD2 recently back from a full overhaul (Karim and Katie at Malibu scuba repair) has performed flawlessly as usual feels like a brand new suit again. Of course the Nova being put through the paces. As it’s stands today…. If I had the choice of buying any of the three suits (money/cost not a factor) the tech dry is a great back up suit, costs more then the Nova and not nearly as good a suit. The Nova is becoming a very popular choice in my stable of suits. The Bare HD2 still is the top choice. But it’s not that far ahead of the Nova. If money/cost is a factor…. Hands down the Nova wins. Excellent materials, functional, 1/3 the cost of the Bare HD2 Expedition. Adding a wrist dump valve to the Expedition is only going to increase is status, that being said, add a the DUI zip seal wrist system to the Nova for a more flexible ring….. it may just surpass the Expedition. Currently Seaskin does not offer the DUI zip seal system as an option. Thanks for checking us out: https://cyborgpirate.com
