Listening To Land And Water
Listening To Land And Water let the land and water speak A different and special Nature Folklore edition as our featured guest on this edition is Manchán Magan who is extremely popular right now during the release of his new book 'Listen To The Land Speak'. This book is a delight for me to read as Manchán covers several of the subjects I cover on Nature folklore but in Manchán's delightful insightful, easy to read, and easy to understand style. Even more wonderful is how this book is circulating widely around Ireland, and well into Europe, North America and elsewhere much more than this Nature Folklore broadcast ever could ... and Manchán's book actually be read, and not just tucked away on a bookshelf. I believe when this book is read, people will view the landscapes around them very differently and that has wonderful potential for pausing and caring for the earth. I am very passionate about this 'Listen To The Land Speak' book and it is an huge honour to have a conversation with Manchán to help increase a little more attention to this wonderful work. . I will add a bit about 'listening to water' too, during this edition. As for being a 'Samhain' subject, I believe this is a reminder to take our ceremonies, rituals, guising, trick or treating into our winter to spring season and apply them. It is this time of each year when we may contemplate and re-arrange our choices, habits, preferences, and rebuild the debris of the last cycle into something fresh and reborn in spring. One thing that Manchán has said that I feel sums up most of what I believe in is when he describes 'sacred' as not being places of mystery and idolism, but of places essential and used by humans for their survival, and need to be cherished and looked after. I believe this is the main theme of this 'Nature Folklore' edition, and maybe every edition?
