Adoye EP 170 | Masego Madzwamuse | The power of the writing community and life after loss
This series of conversations with women in African philanthropy was recorded on the sidelines of the African Women Writers retreat that took place at the Wits Rural Facility in Limpopo, South Africa, and hosted by CAPSI’s Adɔyɛ Programme. Adɔyɛ is dedicated to celebrating and amplifying the contributions of African women in philanthropy while creating spaces for dialogue, learning and collaboration. Masego Madzwamuse is a writer, facilitator, and community builder whose work explores storytelling, healing, and the transformative power of creative expression. Through her writing and engagement with literary communities, she inspires people to find connection, resilience, and purpose through sharing their stories, especially in moments of loss, change, and personal growth. In her conversation with Bella Matambanadzo on Stories of Learning, Unlearning & Growth, Masego Madzwamuse reflects on the theme "The Power of the Writing Community and Life After Loss and Change." She explores how writing can become a source of healing, how creative communities provide support during life's transitions, and how storytelling helps us make meaning of difficult experiences while opening the door to hope and renewal. Some of the key talking points include: The power of writing communities in fostering connection, belonging, and creative growth. Navigating life after loss and embracing change through storytelling. How writing can be a tool for healing, self-discovery, and resilience. The importance of sharing personal stories to inspire empathy and understanding. Learning, unlearning, and growing through life's unexpected transitions. Building supportive spaces where writers can learn from one another and thrive. Using storytelling to transform personal experiences into sources of hope, strength, and collective understanding. Exploring philanthropy, social investment, youth employment and dignified work across Africa. ➡️ Visit CAPSI: https://www.capsi.wits.ac.za/ ➡️ Official YouTube: / @capsi_wits ➡️ Podcast Channel: / @conversationsonafricanphilanth 📩 CONTACT US Email: [email protected] 🎧 MEET THE TEAM 🎙️ Host: Masego Madzwamuse, 🎙️ Guest Voices: Leading academics, practitioners, youth leaders & philanthropists across Africa 📹 Production & Media: CAPSI ✂️ Post-Production: CAPSI Comms Team 📱 Follow CAPSI: TikTok: @capsi.wits Instagram: @capsi.wits X: @capsi_wits Facebook: CAPSI Wits LinkedIn: CAPSI Wits #Podcast #AfricanPhilanthropy #DignifiedWork #WitsForGood
