đŸȘ¶ Renaissance: Spannende Kunst und Architektur! | Das Renaissance-Experiment | planet schule | ARD

In art and architecture, ancient forms were once again admired during the Renaissance. This new art came to Germany from Italy. The Ottheinrichsbau in Heidelberg Castle is a prime example of this new Renaissance architecture. In art, central perspective was now used, which increasingly approximates spatial vision. This applied to paintings, but also to the fashionable copperplate engraving. At that time, copperplate engraving was booming, as the relatively inexpensive printed works could now also be afforded by "ordinary people." The enterprising Protestant MatthĂ€us Merian built an empire with his workshops. He consistently continued the "media revolution" that Gutenberg had begun with the printing press. ---------------- 00:00 | The engraver MatthĂ€us Merian and his art 04:58 | In the modern engraver's studio – the production of the printing plate 08:00 | The profanation of places of worship 11:53 | In the Modern Engraver's Studio – Ink, Paper, and Printing ---------------- 1) The Engraver MatthĂ€us Merian and His Art Copperplate engraving, with its inexpensive prints, was popular during the Renaissance. The engraver MatthĂ€us Merian was highly respected, specializing in cityscapes. He also captured Heidelberg and its castle in copperplate engravings. With his workshops in Oppenheim and Frankfurt, Merian built an empire. He only provided the drawings himself and employed journeymen to execute the engravings. 2) In the Modern Engraver's Studio – Making the Printing Plate The engraver Stefan Becker draws on Merian's craft developments. Copperplate, etching ground, tracing paper, etching needle – he shows step by step how a copperplate print is created. 3) The Profanization of Places of Worship As a result of the religious wars, many churches were profaned, that is, desecrated and converted to secular use. Protestant churches differed from Catholic ones. For many reformers, images in churches were a form of deception that only distracted from the word of God. Images and all decorations had to be removed. Even the interior of Ulm Minster was not spared from the effects of the Reformation. The images by MatthĂ€us Merian document this turning point. 4) In the modern engraver's studio – color, paper, and printing In copperplate engraving, the classic black, which is evenly applied to the printing plate, still dominates today. Merian's intaglio printing process is still used today. Using the old procedure, the modern engraver Stefan Becker creates an image of what Heidelberg Castle looks like today. #SWR #PlanetSchule ---------------- â–ș All episodes of the series: https://www.planet-schule.de/sf/php/s... â–ș WEB: https://planet-schule.de â–ș NEWSLETTER: https://www.planet-schule.de/sf/servi... â–ș FACEBOOK:   / planetschule   â–ș TWITTER:   / swrbildung Â
