Supercritical: Redshift 6 - Superbooth 2025

We had a chat with Timo from Supercritical who gave us a look at the *Redshift 6*, a six-voice polyphonic analog synthesizer with digitally controlled oscillators. Each voice features up to 16 oscillators running in parallel, offering a dense and layered sound palette. Despite its relatively compact design, it's capable of producing complex textures including stereo chords and stacked bass/arpeggio layers from a single voice. Timo explained the use of their character control, which lets you shape the filter response across different classic analog flavours--from OTA to ladder to diode-ladder types. Upcoming firmware updates will add MPE support and a new DCO engine, which will allow oscillator stacking, partials for drawbar-like control, and phase-based modulation for flanger-style effects. MIDI implementation includes USB, DIN I/O, multitimbral voice control, and six individual audio outs. The interface is built around screen-based pages and endless encoders, optimised for handling multiple parts and future expandability.
