On August 22, 2019, many tourists set off for the Tatra Mountains, as on any other summer day. The weather seemed good, and the trails were crowded. No one could have imagined that in a matter of minutes, a peaceful hike would turn into a tragedy that would forever be etched in the history of the Polish mountains. In this video, we revisit the tragic events on Giewont and show the progress of the storm and the rescue operation led by TOPR rescuers. It's a story about the power of nature, human decisions, and the enormous effort of people who, despite extreme conditions, rushed to help the victims.
