It is located on the Marina Beach's southernmost stretch. During the yearly Ganesh celebration, it is one of the most important venues in the city for the immersion of Ganesh (Vinayaka) idols. Before being carried to Foreshore Estate for immersion in the water, the idols are paraded around South Marina Beach (Kamaraj Salai). In September, the festival takes place. 6A, 6D, 12B, 21B, 21D, 21E, 21L, 27D, PP51, PP19, PP21, and PP66 are some of the buses that run through Foreshore Estate. Marina Beach Road : Marina Beach is a natural urban beach on the Bay of Bengal in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Marina Beach beach stretches for 6.0 kilometres (3.7 miles) from near Fort St. George in the north to Foreshore Estate in the south, making it the country's longest natural urban beach. Unlike the small, rocky formations that make up Mumbai's Juhu Beach, the Marina is mostly sandy. Marina Beach is 300 metres (980 feet) broad on average, and 437 metres wide at its widest part (1,434 ft). Bathing and swimming are prohibited at the Marina Beach due to the dangers posed by the strong undercurrent. It is one of the most crowded beaches in the country and attracts about 30,000 visitors a day during weekdays and 50,000 visitors a day during the weekends and on holidays. During summer months, about 15,000 to 20,000 people visit the beach daily. Triplicane : Triplicane, also known as Thiruvallikeni in local parlance, is one of Chennai's oldest neighbourhoods. It's around 0.6 kilometres from Fort St George on the Bay of Bengal coast. Triplicane, along with Mylapore and the surrounding areas, is much older than Chennai itself, having been mentioned in records dating back to the Pallava period. The suburb was the first village acquired by the English to expand the new city of Madras beyond its "White Town" neighbourhood within the Fort St. George. It is one of the city's four "Old Towns." It is primarily a residential area, although it also has some of the city's tourist attractions, including the Marina Beach, Parthasarathy Temple, and a number of commercial organisations.
