Her Majesty the Queen presided over the presentation of this initiative, which aims to provide in-person training to 5,000 women from rural Spain in digital literacy, entrepreneurship, and employability. Her Majesty the Queen, who traveled to Santiago de Compostela accompanied by the Minister of Health, Social Services, and Equality, Dolors Montserrat, was joined by the President of the Xunta de Galicia, Alberto Núñez Feijóo; the President of the Parliament of Galicia, Miguel Ángel Santalices; the Government Delegate in the Autonomous Community of Galicia, Santiago Villanueva; the Mayor of Santiago de Compostela, Martiño Noriega; the Director of Policy and Public Affairs for Google Spain and Portugal, Francisco Ruiz; the Director of the Women's Foundation, Marisa Soleto; and the President of the Cybervolunteers Foundation, Yolanda Rueda, among other dignitaries and approximately one hundred women from rural areas. Following speeches by the Mayor of Santiago de Compostela and the Director of Public Policy and Affairs for Google Spain, Francisco Ruiz, the "Digitalizadas" project was presented by Marisa Sotelo, Director and Vice President of the Women's Foundation, and Yolanda Rueda, President of the Cybervolunteers Foundation. They provided information about the project's target audience, locations, content, and methodology. A roundtable discussion then took place, featuring the experiences of three women from three different generations: María del Carmen Cao, 63, from A Coruña, a family caregiver who, despite being barely literate, created a Facebook account and has participated in several computer workshops; María José Álvarez, 39, from Palomares del Río (Seville), a crochet doll artisan who decided to turn her hobby into a livelihood thanks to a platform that allowed her to easily sell her products online; And Maite de Dios, 24, a resident of Tábara (Zamora), who, after completing an entrepreneurship course, decided to create a website to increase the visibility of her hotel-restaurant. Finally, the Minister of Health, Social Services and Equality, the President of the Xunta de Galicia, and Her Majesty the Queen spoke. The Queen closed the event, emphasizing that “thanks to projects like this one today, which are also more prevalent in rural areas, women in these communities are realizing how important access to information is in today's knowledge society. And that's why I'm here: to give visibility to this project, because digital literacy isn't just about completing paperwork or administrative tasks. It's about leisure, culture, and, of course, professional advancement. It's also about overcoming the isolation that is more prevalent in rural areas.”
