350 Miles of Non-Permissive Camping: The Ultra-Light Gear System I Trust
320 miles across Georgia with no support vehicle, no reservations, and nowhere guaranteed to sleep. This is the complete gear breakdown from an adventure that included non-permissive camping, stealth camping in a 100-year-old covered bridge, poncho camping, hammock camping, minimalist camping, survival gear, water filtration, navigation, repair equipment, and multi-purpose gear. What gear do you actually need for self-reliant travel, preparedness, bug out scenarios, and non-permissive camping? My friend Dustin and I rode from the mountains of North Georgia to Savannah, covering more than 320 miles in five days while carrying everything we needed to camp, travel, navigate, filter water, repair equipment, and remain completely self-reliant. Most people carry too much camping and survival gear. For this trip, every item had to earn its place. Weight mattered. Space mattered. Versatility mattered. My goal was to build a lightweight, multi-purpose gear system capable of handling long-distance travel, stealth camping, changing weather, equipment failures, and unexpected challenges. My bicycle was a 1941 Hawthorne, making it roughly 85 years old. No gears. No suspension. No support vehicle. Just two riders, heavily loaded bicycles, and a destination hundreds of miles away. Day one nearly broke us. The mountains of North Georgia were far more brutal than expected. With bikes weighing nearly 80 pounds, we spent hours pushing uphill and sometimes walking downhill because the grades were so steep. The coaster brakes couldn’t handle the heat generated on long descents, and after only 41 miles, we seriously questioned whether we would make it. But as the terrain flattened out, our confidence grew. The days got hotter, the miles started adding up, and the adventure became something we’ll never forget. Along the way we practiced non-permissive camping every night, relying on outdoor skills, preparedness, experience, and resourcefulness to find safe places to sleep. From stealth camping beside rural roads to spending the night inside a 100-year-old covered bridge, every campsite required adaptability, concealment, and a lightweight multi-purpose gear system. My shelter system centered around a poncho tarp and hammock setup—one of the most versatile lightweight camping systems I’ve used for preparedness, bug out travel, minimalist camping, self-reliant adventure, and non-permissive camping. In this video, I break down every piece of gear I carried during this adventure, including: • Poncho tarp shelter system • Hammock camping setup • Lightweight sleep system and insulation • Clothing and rain gear • Water filtration and hydration equipment • Food and cooking gear • Repair kit and tools • Navigation equipment • Survival gear and emergency equipment • Multi-purpose preparedness gear Whether you’re interested in preparedness, self-reliance, bug out gear, survival gear, lightweight camping, minimalist camping, poncho camping, hammock camping, stealth camping, non-permissive camping, adventure travel, outdoor survival, bushcraft, or building an efficient multi-purpose gear system, this video shows exactly what worked, what didn’t, and what I’d change if I did it again. 🔥 Amazon Store: https://www.amazon.com/shop/onthree 🔥 Support the Channel: / onthree Physical Preparedness For Whatever Life Throws At You. #NonPermissiveCamping #StealthCamping #PonchoCamping #PonchoTarp #HammockCamping #Preparedness #SelfReliance #BugOutGear #SurvivalGear #MinimalistCamping #LightweightCamping #OutdoorSurvival #Bushcraft #CampingGear #AdventureTravel #WaterFiltration #GearReview #CoveredBridge #GeorgiaAdventure #ONTHREE Thanks for watching and supporting ON THREE. -Jason More gear, guides, and tools at www.GoOn3.com Supporting my affiliates is another way to help.
