So, let’s get started. Functional Ovarian Cysts: The first type of ovarian cysts we will be discussing are functional ovarian cysts. These cysts are the most common type and are usually harmless. They form as a part of the menstrual cycle and occur when the follicle, which is responsible for releasing the egg, does not mature properly or does not release the egg. These cysts usually resolve on their own within a few menstrual cycles. Pathological Ovarian Cysts: The next type of ovarian cysts are pathological ovarian cysts. These cysts are less common and can cause more serious symptoms. They may be caused by endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome, or other underlying medical conditions. Pathological ovarian cysts may require medical treatment, such as surgery, depending on their size and symptoms. Simple Ovarian Cysts: Simple ovarian cysts are fluid-filled sacs that are the most common type of pathological ovarian cysts. They contain only fluid and are usually small in size. Simple ovarian cysts may not cause any symptoms and can often go unnoticed. However, they can cause pain or discomfort if they grow larger or burst. Complex Ovarian Cysts: Complex ovarian cysts, on the other hand, are more complex in structure and can contain both fluid and solid components. These cysts may have a higher chance of becoming cancerous, but this is rare. They may also cause symptoms such as abdominal pain, bloating, and irregular menstrual cycles. Complex ovarian cysts require medical attention and may need to be removed surgically. Dermoid Cysts: Another type of ovarian cyst is a dermoid cyst. These cysts are formed from embryonic cells and can contain hair, skin, teeth, and other tissues. Dermoid cysts are usually benign and may be asymptomatic, but in some cases, they can cause abdominal pain and discomfort. They can also grow quite large and may need to be removed surgically. Ovarian Torsion: Ovarian torsion is a rare but serious complication that can occur with any type of ovarian cyst. It happens when the cyst twists and cuts off the blood supply to the ovary. Ovarian torsion can be very painful and may require emergency treatment to prevent damage to the ovary. Ruptured Cysts: Lastly, we have ruptured cysts which can occur with any type of ovarian cyst. Ruptured cysts can cause severe pain and discomfort and may cause bleeding, infection, or other complications. If you experience sudden and severe abdominal pain, seek medical attention immediately. #ovariancyst #ovarian #functionalovariancysts #pathologicalovariancysts #simpleovariancyst #complexovariancyst #dermoidcysts #ovariantorsion #rupturedcysts #drmoolyasaiparchuri #drsaiparchuri #unihealth #healthvideostelugu #healthtips #healthvideos #hyderabad Dr. Moolya Sai Parchuri M.B.B.S, M.S OBGYN, Consultant Obstetrician & Gynecologist Unihealth Speciality Clinics Address: House No: 1-57/181-B, Second Floor, Block B Sriram nagar Colony, Kondapur Village, Serilingampalli Mandal, Ranga Reddy District Appointments contact - 7702914614 /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// DISCLAIMER: This content (the video, description, links, and comments) is not medical advice or a treatment plan and is intended for general education and demonstration purposes only.
