These cysts usually resolve on their own within a few menstrual cycles. Pathological Ovarian Cysts: The next type of ovarian cysts are pathological ovarian cysts. These cysts are less common and can cause more serious symptoms. They may be caused by endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome, or other underlying medical conditions.
