Mafia Cops Interview - Louis Eppolito on the Sally Jesse Raphael show
In 1992, former NYPD Detective Louis Eppolito appeared on the Sally Jesse Raphael show promoting his recently released autobiography, 'Mafia Cop'. Watching the televised appearance was Betty Hydell, mother of missing Gambino crime family associate Jimmy Hydell. Betty Hydell recognized Eppolito as one of two men looking for her son on the day of his disappearance six years prior. After reading 'Mafia Cop' she would identify the second man present that day as Stephen Caracappa, Eppolito's former partner in the NYPD. What followed was the beginning of both state and federal investigations that would open the lid on police corruption, multiple murders and culminate in the famous ' Mafia Cops' trial.
