Springbank 12 CS Batch 28 2025 vs Batches 24 and 25 #whiskyinsv 162

In episode 162 of Whisky in SV, Ralf and I did a blind tasting of the latest Springbank 12 Cask Strength (Batch 28), bottled at 55.5% ABV and matured entirely in ex-bourbon casks. Going into this, we expected to prefer the bourbon-forward profile. In general, we tend to lean toward Springbank when it shows more of that bourbon cask influence, so this felt like it should be right up our alley. We put it up against Batch 24 (60% bourbon / 40% sherry, 54.1% ABV) and Batch 25 (70% bourbon / 30% sherry, 57.2% ABV). But this time, we were genuinely surprised. We both strongly preferred Batch 25. Even compared to Batch 24, which on paper has more sherry influence, Batch 25 came across as the richer, more sherried, and better balanced dram in the glass. Overall, if you're a Springbank fan, the core 10 Year and the 12 Year Cask Strength continue to offer some of the best value in the lineup, so don’t sleep on this one. #whiskyinsv    • Springbank 12 CS Batch 28 2025 vs Batches ...
