Cuidados para una Vaca en Gestación - TvAgro por Juan Gonzalo Angel

Twitter @juangangel On most farms or cattle ranches, the reproduction process is one of the factors that determine the success or failure of production-related economic activities. In both beef cattle production systems and those geared toward dairy or dual-purpose production, animal reproduction plays an important role. Producers strive to obtain the highest number of offspring per year, with the best weaning weights and the lowest number of abortions and empty cows, i.e., greater reproductive efficiency. Theoretically, a cow should produce one calf per year; this depends on internal factors such as the animal's genetics and external factors such as nutrition, health management, and reproductive management. Cows go into heat every 21 days; they are seasonally polyestrous females. Males will serve females only during the time they are in heat, which is a period of 2 to 4 days. In cows, gestation lasts approximately 9 months. Juan Gonzalo Angel www.tvagro.tv
