Goram Ghat History : - The rail track to the Goram Ghat was built in 1932 by the Englishmen along with the help of former Mewar’s Maharana. The Journey was quite tricky to be laid as the rail tracks had to be laid through hilly regions, snake roads, tunnel and bridge as well. At the construction time, this was surely a huge task for the engineers of that era. Former it was a basic Meter- Gauge train and later it was transformed into a Heritage Tourism rail. Overview One has to ferry a train from the Khamli Ghat station to the Goram Ghat station to experience the fascinating Goram Ghat. Initially the train starts from Maavli, but the tourists prefer boarding their train from the Khamli Ghat station. The Khamli ghat is situated near Devgad of Rajsamand district. The distance between Khamli Ghat and Goram Ghat is merely 14kms but it takes around an hour via the train journey to reach the location, because of the steep and tricky rail track. One can also say that the speed of this particular train is quite slow comparatively. But looking at the bright side: the journey enchants an individual with the enthralling natural sceneries. The train journey is basically the main attraction as according to the tourists who’ve visited Goram Ghat, the train journey is much more captivating than the actual location. On reaching the Goram Ghat station, the passengers have to trek down to a miraculous waterfall, people love to bathe in the waterfall and enjoy the nature’s purity. There are several temples also that can be visited at Goram Ghat including Temples of Gorakhaath Ji, Lord Shiva, Bheru Nath Ji, Heenglaaj Mateshwari, Peepleshhwar Maharaj etc. Mavli Junction railway station is a railway station in Udaipur district, Rajasthan. Its code is MVJ. It serves Mavli town. The station consists of five platforms. Passenger Express and Superfast trains halt here. It serves the census town at Marwar Junction. Marwar Junction railway station is at an elevation of 267 metres (876 ft) and was assigned the code – MJ. Rajputana State Railway extended the Delhi–Ajmer 1,000 mm (3 ft 3+3⁄8 in)-wide metre-gauge line to Ahmeabad in 1881. It was converted to 5 ft 6 in (1,676 mm) broad gauge in 1997. The Rajputana–Malwa Railway built the metre-gauge line from Marwar Junction to Pali in 1882. Later, this section was extended to Jodhpur and formed the Jodhpur Railway. The line now runs up to Munabao on the India–Pakistan border and has been fully converted to broad gauge. The Mavli–Marwar metre-gauge line was opened in 1936. The class YDM-4 is Indian Railways' workhorse diesel locomotive. The first units were imported fully built from the American Locomotive Company (Alco) in 1961. Since 1968, it has been manufactured in India by the Banaras Locomotive Works (BLW), Varanasi. The model name stands for metre gauge (Y), diesel (D), mixed traffic (M) engine. The YDM-4 has been the most successful diesel locomotive in the metre gauge operation of Indian Railways. The YDM-4A is a variant of the YDM-4 supplied by MLW . Originally equipped with vacuum brakes. Some were later equipped with dual brakes, particularly those working in the Northeast Frontier Railway were retrofitted with dual brake system by Lumding shed. The YDM-4 locos have a maximum speed of 100 km/h (62 mph), restricted to 85 km/h (53 mph).
