Historias de un educador salvaje | Juan López-Aranguren | TEDxMadrid
Why was the A-Team always able to escape from where they were locked up? The improvisation and situations of exceptions that are key to a more modern and effective education fill this meaningful talk through international examples in which informal educational spaces offer inspiration for the organized and in which it is proposed that the playground become a central element for a new educational experiment project. Juan López-Aranguren got his architecture degree at the Superior Technical School of Architecture of Madrid, even though it took him 14 years to finish the degree. He assures that those 14 years were well invested. He has traveled the world with his friends, completing difficult cataloging projects, which projects have been the objects of study from many different areas, such as architecture or anthropology. These studies have, within their membership, institutions such as IDEO college, the Neighbor's Association of Villaverde Alto, the CSIC, the Minister of the Environment, and the Guggenheim in New York. As a result, this prolific decade is known as Basurama, of which group John is a founding member. Since then, he has lead programs such as Autobarrios, Imaginar Patio (Imagine Playgrounds), Residuos Urbanos Sólidos (Leftover urban solids), or In Love we Trash. They have been award-winning and publicly released on a national and international level. Juan has developed community architectural projects in slums and outlying suburbs in Sao Paulo, Lima, Madrid, and Niamey. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
