Geagea offered a political analysis of the agreement, its clauses, and its future for the region if implemented. In a post on X, he said: "The framework agreement between Lebanon and Israel, which was overseen by President Joseph Aoun in understanding and consultation with Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, is the most important political step taken by the Lebanese state in half a century, to extricate Lebanon and the Lebanese people from the tragic predicament and its repercussions due to the successive resistance movements in the South." Geagea clarified that "this framework agreement is not limited to the withdrawal of Israelis from Lebanon, so that the people of the South can return to their homes." And their villages, indeed, when implemented, it will finally close the bleeding wound in our south, which has afflicted all Lebanese, especially the people of the south, deprived us of stability, and paralyzed, to varying degrees, national and political activity in the country, leading to economic and financial collapses that have spared no home in Lebanon.” Geagea emphasized that this bleeding wound, contrary to the claims of the “resistance” groups of all stripes and persuasions, “has not contributed a single hair’s breadth to the Palestinian cause, while it has repeatedly devastated Lebanon. Furthermore, the framework agreement, when implemented, will not only remove the Israelis from our land and close the bleeding wound in the south, but will also rid us of a major national problem we have lived with for the past fifty years: the existence of armed groups outside the state, foremost among them Hezbollah, which acts on the basis of war and peace according to their own whims and in accordance with foreign interests, without taking into account the interests of Lebanon and the Lebanese people.” This has led to the weakening of the Lebanese state and a lack of seriousness on the part of all of Lebanon's friends, both East and West.” He continued, saying, “This framework agreement will remove the unlimited and illegitimate Iranian influence from Lebanese decision-making circles, which has been pushing Lebanese positions and choices in directions that serve Iran's interests, not those of Lebanon and the Lebanese people. It will restore relations between Lebanon and Iran to what they were half a century ago: normal diplomatic relations between two states for the benefit of their people.” In response to those who oppose and demonize the agreement, claiming it is an agreement to sow discord among the Lebanese, Geagea said, “If only they remembered that the discord arose when the Taif Agreement was applied selectively in the security and military spheres to some people and not to others, under flimsy pretexts that fooled no one. The greatest proof of this is the state of affairs we are in today. And those who have now woken up to the issue of the Armistice Agreement should have taken action when the Armistice Agreement began to be tampered with in 1964, instead of lamenting its demise now.” Geagea then reiterated his point. The Lebanese, “especially those who claim this agreement is invalid, illegitimate, and disregards the opinion of a segment of the Lebanese population, should know that the legitimate authority in Lebanon today, as in most countries of the world, consists of the President of the Republic, the government, and the Parliament. President General Joseph Aoun, who oversaw the conclusion of this agreement, was legitimately and legally elected by 99 out of 128 members of Parliament, and this government has received a vote of confidence twice, approaching two-thirds of the votes of the Parliament elected by the Lebanese people.” Geagea concluded by saying, “This is the greatest opportunity Lebanon has had to emerge from the tragic circumstances it has endured for the past fifty years. We must all seize this opportunity and stand behind our legitimate authorities to get out of this situation as quickly as possible, instead of wasting time on outdated proposals and empty rhetoric… until all Lebanese are thoroughly fed up.”
