RIFUGIO RODA DI VAEL: Giro ad anello per il Vial de le Feide | CATINACCIO | VAL DI FASSA

🚩Starting from the beautiful plateau of Ciampedie in the Catinaccio-Rosengarten Group (1,986 m), reachable by cable car from Vigo di Fassa, we venture into a route that combines the Dolomites with glimpses of Ladin history and tradition. Leaving behind the tourist crowds, we walk along the historic Vial de le Feide (the sheep path), an ancient trail suspended beneath the vertical walls of Pale Rabiouse and Mugogn. The change of scenery is drastic; from lush meadows we find ourselves walking along the rocky and panoramic switchback with views of the Sella Group, Marmolada, Val de Vajolet, and the entire Fassa Valley. Our day's goal is the splendid Ciampaz saddle at 2,283 meters, where the historic Roda di Vaèl Refuge stands along with the nearby and characteristic Baita Marino Pederiva. After a well-deserved break to admire these wonderful peaks and an essential slice of typical cake, we begin the descent back. The trail takes us across the green meadows up to Agritur Malga Vael (2,028 m), which we unexpectedly find closed.
