Deddy Sitorus, a PDIP politician and member of Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), expressed his frustration with the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) and the Land Bank Agency during a hearing on Monday (May 18, 2026). According to Deddy, in cases of agrarian reform and land management, small communities are always the victims. In fact, in one case, a small community planting corn on land deemed problematic was arrested by authorities. Meanwhile, there are companies and corporations that neglect their HGU (land use permit) yet face no action or sanctions from the government.
