How safe is your sunscreen? Dermatologist on what we know about ingredients and toxicity

In this episode I'm joined by dermatologist Dr Fayne Frey, author of The Skincare Hoax, to discuss sunscreen safety. The FDA released this updated research https://www.fda.gov/news-events/fda-v... a couple of years back around the level of absorption into the bloodstream from the active ingredients in approved chemical sunscreens. Its studies showed that six common chemical ingredients — avobenzone, homosalate, octinoxate, octisalate, octocrylene and oxybenzone — do make it into the bloodstream. The FDA said that absorption doesn’t mean these ingredients are unsafe and they encouraged consumers to keep using sunscreen to help prevent skin cancer but they’ve asked the industry and for additional safety data on 12 active sunscreen ingredients – and we await the outcome.
