Veganism has become increasingly mainstream in recent years. However, responses to it are not the same around the world. With the rapid westernization of Asian diets and the soaring demand for animal products, veganism from a Southeast Asian perspective is quite unique. Countries such as Thailand are seeing rising numbers of fast food and supermarket chains which have many environmental, economic and ethical implications. These changes, along with the social and cultural perceptions of veganism, must be understood to ensure sustainable future growth. Pimmy is a student with a huge passion for food, and aims to continue finding the most delicious meals, but in a way that minimises the global impact of her choices.
