TRIO DOIS A UM plays ASA BRANCA (Luiz Gonzaga & Humberto Teixeira) live @ LEBEWOHLFABRIK in Zurich in 2018 feat. LINO BOTTER MAIO (accordion), RODRIGO BOTTER MAIO (alto sax) & JOSÉ LUIZ MARTINS (piano) Dear friends, I hope you are all doing well! I am so happy to open a new serie of videos where I can post some live performances filmed by some friends during our concerts: LIVE CONCERT SERIES! In this way you can have an idea of how are concerts are, here everything is live, there is no studio trick, no take 1, 2, 3, 4, 5... only one :-) As my friend say: Not TAKE ONE, but TAKE ÚNICO :-) This is my video Nr. 219 and finally I can start erasing some old videos that I have been carrying in my handy or WhatsApp during years, and always having storage problems. A special thank you to my friend Carmen Maeder that was sitting in the first table of the club and filmed the complete song so nicely! I hope that someday this and other videos will be a rare document, showing you a little of our musical trip for over 30 years bringing good Brazilian Jazz to Switzerland, to Europe and to the world. ABOUT THIS ARRANGEMENT: Lino says that actually it was his idea of always modulate a small third and going up. And why this happened? (This is you chance to know a little more about this instrument and get you first free lesson from me ha ha ha: This accordion has buttons in both sides, so you can play chromatically. And when you put your hand in the right position, you can play a scale like C D E F G. Then you move your hand just a little and you play the same notes in Eb: Eb F G Ab Bb; move again and you are in F#: F# G# A# B C#; move again and you are in A: A B C# D E. If you move again you are again in C Major :-) So, when I wrote this arrangement for him, he was only 5 years old and I thought: ok, he is so small and can play those notes; but we can play many complicate chords. And it is what I did. And after that I wrote a second voice for me. This is already the 3. Video where Lino is playing ASA BRANCA. In the first one he was 5 years old, playing with JAZZ VIA BRASIL GROUP and more than 10'000 people saw that! ABOUT US: The TRIO DOIS A UM started als a Trio with guitar, were my good friend and great guitar player OLIVER PELLET used to play. After some time we started to play as a trio with piano and here came my other friend and fantastic pianist from São Paulo JOSÉ LUIZ MARTINS. He always impressed me in his solos, he helped me in the JAZZ VIA BRASIL GROUP, RETURN OF THE BOSSA NOVA, this trio and some other projects live duos. But one thing was new for me: he never made a rehearsal! Ha ha, this was really new for me because I love rehearsing and know exactly what will happen on stage. But he was so busy and living in another city, so we never had one. But he always played greatly. And about Lino, what can I say besides he is my son? He is such a talent and he impressed me every time we played together, always playing incredible solos, so melodic and rhythmic. And he never studied improvisation, such a natural talent and with many, many experiences playing together with me and with many others. So happy that soon he well be back from his trip after 5 months in Brazil! Welcome back, Lino!
