During the daytime at the Hot Air Balloon Festival, or “Tazaungdaing Festival”, in the Shan State of Myanmar, large animal-shaped hot air balloons are sent skyward. This is done with great pride and pageantry, as one team after another arrives with a small band and a balloon in a pick-up truck. The balloons take months to design and can be expensive to build.
