Mark Martin Shows Us His 1993 NASCAR Ford Thunderbird: Secrets of Speed

Mark Martin gets to see his restored race car for the first time and shows us some of its secrets! Mark has a few of his iconic Roush race cars but none as significant as this one. This chassis (JR10) is his first win car and serves as "Ole Reliable" for Roush Racing from 1989 to 1993 when Mark captured its final victory at Phoenix. The car was used as a backup car until 1995 when it was mothballed for Jack's collection and later purchased by Mark for his own museum. Because it was a backup car, it had been updated to 1995 spec and Mark wanted it put back to 1993 Phoenix form correctly. The Martins sent it to Mike Beam at GMS Fabrication to handle the restoration. Mike was a crew chief in the cup series competing against this car from the pit box of Bill Elliott and Sterling Marlin both, so he knows what it takes to create a period correct Winston Cup car. Mark shows us some of the things that helped the Roush team gain an edge and Mike reveals some of his own Thunderbird secrets from the Bill Elliott era!
