Bastien Lachaud : Nouvelle France, crise démocratique, Nouvelle-Calédonie et défense nationale

In this interview on RFI's "Atelier politique," I discuss several major issues: the state of our democracy, the social divide, the crisis in public services, and the international tensions of our time. I argue that France today is no longer the France of 1958. It has profoundly changed—socially, demographically, and economically. Faced with this reality, our institutions must be rethought to reflect this "New France," based on principles of popular sovereignty and democratic transformation. I also address the dramatic situation of public schools, which I experienced as a teacher, and whose difficulties I now witness, as a member of parliament, worsening due to a lack of sufficient resources. Regarding New Caledonia, I emphasize the need for a parliamentary inquiry into the events of 2024 and for the State to uphold its commitments to the decolonization process outlined in the Nouméa Accord. Finally, I address the issue of strategic choices in defense, France's role in NATO, and the need to develop an independent international policy focused on de-escalation and peace. #FranceInsoumise #Mélenchon #2027
