In Spitsbergen, at the gateway to the North Pole, at the bottom of a fjord, a ship waits patiently, a voluntary prisoner of the ice floe. This ship is the Antarctica, Dr. Jean-Louis Etienne's polar vessel. Throughout the winter, samples and surveys are taken in an ever-increasing effort to better understand these polar regions. Extreme regions that are also, paradoxically, the guarantors of the climatic balance of our entire planet.
