Before you buy a house in Spain you need to consider all the financial and legal requirements. In this video we talk about our experience of buying property in Spain and talk with a Property Lawyer about the process of buying a house in Spain. We discuss the need to have an N.I.E. in Spain and what that entails and we look at the tax you will need to pay on a property purchase. We are with our Property Lawyer Mario Stan who explains the legal requirements and what to look for if you are buying in Spain. It is essential to see your property in person if you are buying a house in Spain but there are many websites that have properties for sale including; A Place in the Sun, Think Spain, Kyero and Idealista to name a few. These property search engines can help you find your dream property in the sun but you then need to think about viewing a property to make sure you know exactly what you are buying. Some important things to look for when you are viewing a house are the conditions such as walls, damp and cracks. It is important to see that the property description matches up with reality and that you can see the condition of the property you are interested in buying. You will need to seek legal advice to make sure that the property is legal, always consult an independent property lawyer. You will need to consider setting up a Spanish Bank Account and either being present for the house completion or giving Power of Attorney to your Property Lawyer to complete on your behalf.
