Starting in Cassville and traveling north through Exeter, Butterfield, Purdy, Pierce City, Wentworth, Sarcoxie, Reeds, La Russell, and Avilla, we uncover fascinating local history, from Civil War stories and railroad expansion to devastating tornadoes and forgotten boomtowns. Along the way, you'll see which towns still have thriving downtown districts, which have become living ghost towns, and how each community has changed over time. At the end, I rank all ten towns from my favorite to least favorite and compare their historic charm, architecture, and overall downtown appeal.
