In this episode, you'll learn: ✅ What contact details should be included in a CV ✅ How to present your educational qualifications professionally ✅ How to showcase professional qualifications and certifications ✅ How to highlight relevant skills effectively ✅ Important do's and don'ts to improve your CV's professionalism 🔹 Contact Details Your contact details allow employers to reach you easily. This section should be accurate, professional, and up to date. Include: • Professional email address • Contact number • LinkedIn profile (optional) • Location (City and Country) ✅ Good Example: Phone: +94 71 XXX XXXX Email: [email protected] Location: Colombo, Sri Lanka LinkedIn: linkedin.com/in/gayashisen ❌ Avoid: • Unprofessional email addresses (e.g., [email protected]) • Multiple phone numbers unless necessary • Full home address • Irrelevant social media accounts 🔹 Educational Qualifications This section highlights your academic background. List your qualifications in reverse chronological order, starting with the most recent. Include: • Qualification name • Institution • Duration or year completed • Relevant achievements (optional) ✅ Example: Bachelor of Management (Accounting & Finance) University of Sri Jayewardenepura 2023 – Present G.C.E. Advanced Level – Commerce Stream ABC College Completed in 2022 💡 Tip: If you are a student or fresh graduate, education can be one of the strongest sections of your CV, so ensure it is presented clearly. 🔹 Professional Qualifications & Certifications Professional qualifications demonstrate your commitment to learning and developing industry-specific knowledge. Include: • Professional courses • Certifications • Workshops (if relevant) • Industry-recognized qualifications ✅ Example: Certificate in Advanced Excel XYZ Institute Business Analysis Fundamentals ABC Academy Partly Qualified – AAT Sri Lanka ❌ Avoid: • Listing irrelevant short courses • Including outdated certifications that no longer add value • Adding certificates without mentioning the awarding institution 🔹 Skills Your skills section should highlight the abilities most relevant to the position you are applying for. Examples of Skills: Technical Skills: • Microsoft Excel • Power BI • Financial Analysis • Data Entry Soft Skills: • Communication • Teamwork • Problem Solving • Time Management ✅ Good Practice: Tailor your skills to match the requirements of the job advertisement whenever possible. ❌ Avoid: • Listing every skill you can think of • Including skills you cannot demonstrate or explain • Using generic terms without relevance to the role Remember, recruiters often spend only a few seconds reviewing a CV.
