In Depth Review: CIGA Design "Edge" #watchreview

Amazon: https://amzn.to/4f51eFm Welcome back to Chrono Pursuit, your trusted source for no‑nonsense and honest watch reviews. Today we’re zeroing in on a piece that was sent to me by CIGA Design that has really impressed me, and that is the CIGA Design “Edge” presented in titanium. If you’re only familiar with CIGA Design because of their 2021 GPHG‑winning Blue Planet, allow me to give a quick history refresher. The Shenzhen‑based studio has been racking up international design trophies since 2013—Red Dot Best of the Best, iF Gold, German Design Award, you name it—earning a reputation for horological experimentation at surprisingly reasonable price points. The Edge predates the Blue Planet by a full two years and, in my view, laid the groundwork for CIGA’s later successes (including the most recent Magician, which you can check out my other video review that I posted as well). The Edge showcases the brand’s core philosophy—mechanics as architecture—via a fully skeletonised tonneau-shaped case with sharp cut-outs and a brushed finishing that looks rugged, yet still luxurious. As always, I’ll measure the Edge on a 100‑point rubric that weighs Design, Construction, Movement, and Other Factors. Anything north of 80 is collection‑worthy in my book; 90‑plus means a watch is a step above its peers. Full disclosure: CIGA Design sent me this watch (and the Magician) for purposes of this review, but agreed that my review and scoring process would be left entirely to my editorial discretion. I will add a link down below and in the description to this watch on their website, but it is not an affiliated or paid link. I don’t earn a dime if you choose to discover their timepieces, but I hope you give them a look! Official Website: https://cigadesign.com/Edge/ChronoPur... Overall Score - 86/100 Design – 21/25 pts Case (size, shape, construction, angles, finishing) – 4 pts Dial (indices, hands, chapter ring) – 4.5 pts Strap/Bracelet (material, comfort, finishing, clasp) – 4.5pts Bezel (scale, integration) – 3.5pts Originality – 4.5pts Construction – 22/25 pts Overall Quality (case, dial, hands, finishing) – 4.5pts Materials (type of metal, rare metals, finishing technique) – 4.5pts Resistances (water, magnetism, shock) – 3.5pts Ancillaries (lugs, crown, pushers and other extremities) – 4 pts Bracelet/clasp (link type, integration with case, clasp mechanism) – 4.5/5 pts Movement – 21/25 pts Origin of Movement (Swiss, sourced, in-house, design) – 4 pts Complication(s) (design, usefulness, integration, operation) – 4pts Accuracy (overall +/-, positions, variance) – 4.5pts Power Reserve (length, indicator, variance) – 4pts Finishing/Design (decoration, finishing, architecture, rotor) – 4.5pts Other Factors – 22/25 pts Price (Value) (MSRP, secondary (new), secondary (used), value proposition) – 5 pts Quality Control (Finishing, dial cleanliness, mechanical, known issues) – 4.5 pts Certifications (COSC, METAS, manufacturer) – 3 pts Warranty (limitations, extensions, service) – 4.5 pts Presentation (box, certificates, ancillary items) – 5 pts The CIGA Design Edge is proof that the micro‑brand renaissance isn’t a fluke—it’s a full‑blown design insurgency. For under $400 you’re getting grade‑2 titanium, a sapphire‑sandwich skeleton, iF and German Design Award pedigree, and enough wrist presence to draw double‑takes from the Rolex table at your next watch meetup. The stainless steel version comes in even cheaper at less than $280, which in my mind is an absolute steal. If your collection needs a shot of adrenaline—or if you simply want a conversation starter that won’t trigger your credit‑card fraud alerts—the Edge should definitely be on your radar. I genuinely think CIGA Design is on to something and has been consistently producing new models that continue to defy convention both in their design and retail price.
