(4) William Brunard Cello Project - Festival Django Reinhardt 2026

Lineup William Brunard – cello Fanou Torracinta – guitar Benji Winterstein – guitar Esteban Felix – double bass Jonathan Gomis – drums What if the cello took its revenge on the double bass?William Brunard began with this instrument at the Conservatory before becoming known as a double bassist — exactly like his illustrious predecessor Ron Carter. With the Cello Project, he returns to his roots and pays tribute to the greatest double bassists in jazz history who also shared a love for the cello: Oscar Pettiford, Ray Brown, Ron Carter, Dave Holland…But make no mistake — William sets his project firmly in a swing context. Somewhere between Django Reinhardt and Billy Strayhorn, between bebop and the Manouche tradition, he shares the solos with guitarist Fanou Torracinta and is backed by a rhythm section built to make the bow swing. An astonishing and musically brilliant project! Dive into the World of Gypsy Jazz!!! More video on my channel:    / @danielgueli   Gypsy Jazz, also known as "Jazz Manouche," originated in the 1930s in France, largely through the innovative work of guitarist Django Reinhardt and violinist Stéphane Grappelli. This style melds traditional jazz elements with the musical traditions of the Romani people, particularly those from Eastern Europe. Django, who was of Romani descent, revolutionized guitar playing with his unique techniques while recovering from injuries that limited the use of two fingers on his left hand. The "Quintette du Hot Club de France," led by Reinhardt and Grappelli, became iconic, blending swing rhythms with a soulful, melodic approach that has influenced musicians worldwide. Gypsy Jazz continues to thrive, maintaining its acoustic, string-based sound, and is celebrated for its improvisational flair and emotional depth. Django Reinhardt Festival In the heart of France, nestled among the lush greenery of the Château de Fontainebleau, every summer the air fills with the sweet, nostalgic sound of guitars and violin strings as the Django Reinhardt Festival comes to life. Once upon a time, in the late 1960s, a small group of jazz enthusiasts decided to celebrate the legacy of Django Reinhardt, the legendary Romani guitarist who had passed away in 1953. They chose Samois-sur-Seine, where Django spent his final years, to host a modest gathering. What began as a single evening of music soon blossomed into one of the world's most celebrated festivals dedicated to Gypsy Jazz, or Jazz Manouche. As years passed, the festival moved to the expansive grounds of the Château de Fontainebleau, providing enough space for the growing crowd of aficionados from around the globe. The festival now spans four days, each filled with the rhythm of swing, the soulful melodies of gypsy guitars, and the vibrant energy of improvisation. As the sun sets, the main stage lights up, and the air vibrates with the collective heartbeat of jazz lovers. The festival isn't just about music; it's a cultural immersion where the Romani culture, known for its warmth and storytelling, envelops everyone in a tapestry of joy and nostalgia. Nightly, spontaneous jam sessions emerge under the stars, where musicians of all levels join in, echoing Django's philosophy that jazz is about freedom of expression. The Django Reinhardt Festival has become more than just a musical event; it's a pilgrimage where history, music, and community intertwine. Here, the legacy of Django continues, not just in notes and chords but in the shared smiles, the dance of the crowds, and the stories told late into the night, all under the watchful gaze of the ancient château. This festival reminds us that while Django might have left this world, his music, his spirit, and his love for life play on, forever young in the hearts of those who gather to celebrate him. gypsy jazz, jazz manouche, gypsy jazz manouche, gypsy jazz guitar, jazz, guitare jazz manouche, manouche, gypsy jazz guitar lesson, guitare manouche, jazz guitar, guitar, jazz manouche guitare, apprendre le jazz manouche, gipsy jazz guitar licks, gipsy jazz guitar lesson, manouche jazz guitar, gypsy, jazz manouche guitar, gypsy jazz music, cours de guitare manouche, gypsy jazz lesson, jazz manouche cours, plan guitare manouche, jazz guitar licks django, rosenberg, sinti, django reinhardt, rosenberg trio, stochelo rosenberg, johnny rosenberg, the rosenberg trio, django wagner, the rosenbergs, mozes rosenberg, jimmy rosenberg, jimmy rosenberg young, nonnie rosenberg, nous'che rosenberg, rosenbert, jimmy rosenberg (guitarist),django wagner (musical artist),django reinhardt (musical artist),django deluxe, rosenbergs, sinti music, sings, nomy rosenberg, moses rosenberg, jimmy rosenberg jong #guitar #jazz #music #guitar #jazz #music #guitarist #musician #guitarplayer #djangoreinhardt #djangoreinhardtmusic #guitarimprovisation #sinti #jazzmanouche #swing #live #manouche #2025
