These Open World Games Changed Everything

I have always been fascinated by the open world games because of the unique way they manage to captivate players. Unfortunately, the modern gaming industry has sort of polluted the genre, with dozens of copy pasted releases that feel soulless and uninspired. Having played so many of these boring games in recent months, I wanted to take a chance to revisit some of the defining open world titles to cleanse my palate and to see if there was a common formula that makes them so captivating. This video essay is sort of just a way to look back on the best open world games like Elden Ring, Skyrim, the Witcher 3, and Breath of the Wild and to appreciate the unique aspects of their world design that many modern developers seem to have forgotten. It's nothing too analytical or complex by any means, but I really enjoyed making this and revisiting these amazing games, and I hope you will enjoy as well!
