Cusco, located in the Andes Mountains of Peru, sits at an altitude of around 3,400 meters (11,150 feet). It’s recommended to acclimate to the altitude in Cusco first. The Sacred Valley is also a must-visit on any Peru itinerary—not only does it offer stunning landscapes, but it also holds the wisdom and cultural legacy left behind by the Incas. One of the most unforgettable experiences was visiting a local home, where we witnessed guinea pigs and people coexisting in traditional living spaces. It was truly shocking!
