La Pasadilla Celebrates a Festive Weekend in Honor of Saint Anthony Community participation, the active involvement of young people, and the announcement of the upcoming organizational change marked the main events of the festivities. The La Pasadilla neighborhood celebrated its festivities in honor of Saint Anthony this past weekend with broad community participation and a program of events organized by the Las Medianías Hunting Club of Ingenio, with the collaboration of the Ingenio Town Hall, through the Department of Festivities. The main day of the celebrations took place on Saturday, June 13, with the traditional pilgrimage, one of the most anticipated events of the festival program. Hundreds of people attended, and seven decorated carts filled the route with a vibrant atmosphere of community, tradition, and joy. The president of the Las Medianías Hunting Club of Ingenio, Carmelo Pérez, highlighted the excellent community response to the event and the growing interest in this popular tradition. "The residents of the municipality have responded to the call of the Hunting Club, the organizers of this event, and we see the carts moving forward accompanied by numerous pilgrims, some with nearly 90-100 people following behind them," he noted. Pérez especially emphasized the participation of younger generations in the celebration, stating that "every year more people join in, especially young people, which guarantees the continuity of the La Pasadilla pilgrimage for many years to come." He also announced the upcoming change in the organization of the festivities, which will be taken over by the Los Chorros del Roque Youth Recreational and Cultural Association, after 81 years of dedication by the Las Medianías de Ingenio Hunting Club. "We will continue to support them so that these emblematic festivities can continue to be celebrated for many more years," he added. The mayor of the town of Ingenio, Vanesa Martín, also participated in the pilgrimage, highlighting the wonderful atmosphere throughout the day. "It's a privilege and an honor to enjoy a La Pasadilla pilgrimage filled with people," he expressed. For his part, the Councilor for Festivities, Rayco Padilla, wanted to acknowledge the work carried out by everyone involved in organizing the event. "I want to thank the Las Medianías Hunting Club of Ingenio for all their work and effort, as well as the staff of the Department of Festivities. Together with all of us, along with the community associations, we continue to build our community," he stated. After the procession, the celebration continued with live music until three in the morning, prolonging the festive and convivial atmosphere. The festivities concluded on Sunday, June 14, with religious services in honor of Saint Anthony. The Hermitage of Saint Anthony hosted the solemn Eucharist at noon, and afterwards, the procession to Lomo Caballo took place. Representing the mayor was Councilor Fátima Méndez, who congratulated everyone who contributed to the success of the festivities. "I want to congratulate everyone who made it possible for us to celebrate this way today, everyone who worked to ensure these festivities continued and were a success, as well as the residents who participated," she concluded.
