Hope or Heartbreak? | 2026 AUDI RS5 SEDAN & AVANT 639HP revealed

So, finally the curtain falls. Here is the brand new 2026 Audi RS5 Sedan & Avant. This is basically a 5th generation RS4 you see here. We all know by now about the confusing naming, but let’s focus on what this is. This is the first ever Plug-In-Hybrid Audi RS model. It produces 639hp which is way, way over the outgoing 450hp RS4/5. But because it is a hybrid, it weights a whopping 2.3 tons. That is 450 kg more than the predecessor. It has therefore, very similar acceleration time to 100kmh, which is 3.6 seconds. On the outside you can see the incredible wide body which is 9cm (3.54in) wider than the normal A5. The headlights are darkened, and the rear brake light is a projector with a checkered flag. Noticeable is that the rings were moved up from the grille, to the border grille/hood, which makes it look like the A6 that already has that. The rear diffuser is massive, and the exhaust is closer to each other this time, because of they had to fit a tow-bar and this was the only option. Remember, the original TT has this exhaust placement as well. Mechanically, this new RS5 has some breaking technology as the first ever quattro with Dynamic Torque Control in the rear transaxle. That’s a world’s first electro-mechanical torque vectoring at the rear. It’s all explain in the YouTube video. On the interior, I was hoping for a different steering wheel, but it’s still there. I was hoping for less piano black, it’s still there. I was hoping for physical AC controls, it’s still on the screen. I was hoping for a better user interface and a proper virtual cockpit with Audi feeling with normal round gauges for speed and toque. That’s not there. We were already talking about the return of the original classic RS font for the badges, so it just shows that if you really listen, you can change things. The reason why the front badge only has ”RS” and not ”RS5” is that when they designed the grille at first, they did it without the front badge. So, that was the initial mistake. Cause later when they got backlash and wanted to put the badge back, they had to face pedestrian safety regulations rules and couldn’t fit the badge in the squares without making it too small.
