Say: "And whoever bears hostility to Gabriel, it is He who revealed to your heart, by Allah's leave, a confirmation of what was before him, a guidance and good tidings for the believers." (2/Al-Baqarah, 97) 98. And whoever is hostile to Allah, His angels, His messengers, Gabriel, and Michael—Allah is indeed the enemy of the disbelievers. (2/Al-Baqarah, 98) The Jews claimed that Gabriel was the angel of war and rejected the revelation to the Prophet (peace be upon him). Allah (swt) declared them enemies of Allah, the angels, and the messengers. Because denying one fundamental of faith is like denying all fundamentals of faith. The people of Noah (peace be upon him) only denied Noah (peace be upon him). But Allah (swt) said, "The people of Noah denied the messengers sent." (26/Al-Shu'ara, 105) Despite denying one prophet, they were considered to have denied all the prophets. 99. And We have sent down to you clear signs. None but the transgressors reject them. (2:99) 100. And every time they made a covenant, did not a group of them break their covenant? (No, not at all!) In fact, most of them do not believe. (2:100) 101. And when a messenger came to them from God, confirming what they had in the Book, a group of those given the Book threw the Book of God behind their backs, as if they did not know. (2:101) The Jews who threw the Book behind their backs and remained indifferent to it will be recompensed for this act by following magic and the lies invented by the devils. Every community that turns away from the revelation and is indifferent to it will be forced to follow falsehood that will cause their worldly and the Hereafter to be lost. The next verse expresses this truth. 102. And they followed what the devils had fabricated about Solomon's kingdom. Solomon did not disbelieve, but the devils disbelieved. They taught the people magic and what was revealed to the two angels in Babylon, Harut and Marut. They did not teach it to anyone until they had said, "We are only a trial for you, so do not disbelieve." They learned from them magic that separates husband and wife. They would never harm anyone by it except with Allah's permission. They were learning something that harmed them and did not benefit them. And they knew full well that whoever bought it had no share in the Hereafter. And evil is what they sold their souls for! If only they knew! (2/Al-Baqarah, 102) 103. If they had believed and abstained from magic, the reward from Allah would have been better. If only they knew!
