Blackbird Simulations Mitsubishi A6M5 Zero – First Aerobatic Display - MSFS 2024
Today we’re taking a look at the highly anticipated A6M5 Zero by Blackbird Simulations. It is the first truly native warbird for MSFS2024 and in my opinion the best warbird we’ve seen in the MSFS series so far. One thing to note is, however, that it isn’t exactly easy on the performance, and while it performed well on its own, with two recording software’s running in the background, it turned the sim into a bit of a stutter fest at time. I still hope you’ll be able to enjoy the video. Like I said above, in my opinion Blackbird’s Zero is currently the best warbird in the MSFS series. They have truly set a new standard. Especially when it comes to the visual model. Both on the in- and outside, the Zero is breathtaking. Blackbird Simulations have done an amazing job with it, detailing the aircraft down to the last rivet and smallest dent. Systems wise everything on the aircraft works like it should and Blackbirds have gone to great lengths adding small details that make the experience more realistic and much more enjoyable, like plenty of vibrating parts, the canopy that starts to slide around if you don’t lock it or the usable steps to climb into the aircraft. I don’t know if the sounds were recorded from Planes of Fames real A6M5 or from one of the other Pratt & Whitney powered ones or from an entirely different aircraft, but the sounds are great and are very convincing. When it comes to the flight model, it feels exactly like every pilot’s description I’ve ever heard about the Zero. Being extremely nimble at low speed but turning very heavy once the speed picks up, to the extend, that you can barely move the control surfaces. This is very well represented, and you have to be very careful to pull out of vertical maneuvers before the speed picks up, otherwise there is a good chance you won’t be able to recover from the dive. The only thing I noticed while recording this video is that the drop tank reappears and disappears in the drone view. I’m not sure if that will be the case in multiplayer too or if it has to do with the recording software. It is certainly something that won’t affect the usual sim experience at all. The Zero is priced way below other Blackbird releases and at 25 USD the Zero is an absolute steel. If you are into warbirds, I can’t recommend the Zero highly enough! Thanks for watching! And I hope you enjoyed the video, despite the heavy stutters. Blackbirds’s Zero is available here: https://blackbirdsims.com/flight/PG.p...
