Pokot Women Banking in Chicken to Survive Climate Shocks
In the United States, Suze Orman is widely known as a powerful voice on financial independence. But in rural West Pokot, her influence is being felt through real-life transformation among women rebuilding their futures. In this episode, EcoFrntline Africa visits women participating in the Her Financial Freedom program implemented by Global Give Back Circle — a life-changing initiative helping women become entrepreneurs and community leaders. Many of the women featured in this story are survivors of harmful traditional practices such as FGM, forced marriage, and early pregnancy. For years, they had limited access to education, assets, or financial decision-making power. Today, that story is changing. Through training, mentorship, and small livelihood investments: Some women who started with just a few chickens now manage large poultry flocks producing eggs daily. Others are raising goats as reliable household savings assets Some are now owning cattle — assets that were once traditionally controlled by men This is more than economic empowerment. It is dignity restored. Confidence rebuilt. Futures rewritten. Watch as we speak with Hellen from Global Give Back Circle and hear directly from the women transforming their lives in West Pokot, Kenya.
