Fordy's Flies - The Quilled Nymph

Is this the greatest fish-catching fly ever? Well for me it definitely is. The Quilled Nymph has caught me more trout and grayling than anything else I carry. It's the first fly I tie on when I get to almost any river - and has caught me fish in all of them. It was the fly I used to help England win a silver medal in my one international so far too - taking four fish from a stretch of water on the River Ebbw in Wales where the angler who'd fished it half an hour before me had blanked. Again, it's one fished in the Euronymph style, but it's also devastating fished under a big dry fly in the 'duo'. Hope you enjoy the tie - and that the fly catches you as many fish as it's caught me!
