The question is not trivial, for in these first chapters of the story, it would be very interesting for the reader to know what Noah did to earn God's favor and be saved from the flood. This would be invaluable information for understanding, from the perspective of narrative coherence, what behaviors or life principles fully satisfy the Lord, about whom we still do not know enough, and, from the perspective of spiritual coherence, what moral works and conduct the author intends to emphasize as appropriate for salvation, in the context of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.
