Small World Peace is a large karakuri clock manufactured by Rhythm Co., Ltd. It features a white pearl-colored body, ringer dolls wearing red and green hats, rows of bells, arch-shaped decorations, and star-shaped ornaments. The clock is about 1300 × 1200 × 300 mm in size and weighs about 41 kg. It has functions such as hourly melodies, time signal, volume control, automatic night shut-off light sensor, decorative pendulum, LED lights, and power failure backup. The price is 4,400,000 yen including tax / 4,000,000 yen before tax. During the performance, the ringer dolls actually strike the bells and play melodies. Because the dolls’ movements are connected to the sound, viewers can enjoy both the movement and the bell performance. The Okazaki Cibico unit is located at 2-20-2 Kosei-dori Nishi, Okazaki City, Aichi. It remains in good condition and shows the atmosphere of large karakuri clocks once installed in commercial facilities. The Sagamihara Asamizo Park unit is installed at Fureai Animal Plaza in Sagamihara City, Kanagawa. Although it is installed outdoors, a special cover helps protect it from direct sunlight. Some hammer-playing figures are missing, and the hourly signal operates about six minutes early. A Small World Peace was once installed near the entrance of Kita-Topia in Kita City, Tokyo. It was in good working condition when observed about four years ago, but it is now reportedly stored in a warehouse. Small World Peace is a valuable reminder of the large karakuri clock culture seen in public and commercial spaces around the 1990s.
