Oefening in zwart, wit en grijs. Licht en donker les 01. Schilderen met acrylverf voor beginners.

This time, we're going to recreate a portrait with acrylic paint. We'll be doing it very roughly, using only black, white, and gray. This way, we can fully concentrate on observing the light and dark, without being distracted by too many possibilities. So, we don't have to recreate the portrait realistically: it doesn't have to look like it; we're just using it as a reference. Materials: Paint: black (preferably oxide or lamp black) and white (titanium) Brush: flat and not too small Spalter or other wide brush to quickly coat the paper Bowl of water Paper towel A palette A palette knife Paper: A4, fairly sturdy paper, at least 350g You can download the reference photo here (photo from www.unsplash.com) https://www.toonnagtegaal.nl/_downloa... You can download the gray chart here: https://www.toonnagtegaal.nl/_downloa... First, coat the paper with medium gray. Wait 15-30 minutes until it has dried completely. Then we'll make a rough sketch of the portrait. You can simply do this with black paint. Then we'll identify the darkest areas in the photo and paint them onto the paper with black paint. Once the black paint is dry, we'll paint the lightest areas with white paint. We'll leave out the areas we don't want to be black or white. That's what you'll be left with: a medium gray. 📰 Newsletter Subscribe to my newsletter here: https://www.toonnagtegaal.nl/nieuwsbrief 🧢 Hats Off Support my work and watch everything ad-free: https://petjeaf.com/toonnagtegaal
