Breitling World Tour | Douglas DC-3 in Egelsbach

Dreieich Pictures presents As part of the Breitling World Tour the Douglas DC-3 made a stopover in Egelsbach. The 77 years-old aircraft HB-IRJ started its world tour in Geneva back in March 2017. It went down to the Middle East, India and the Far East up to Japan. Across the Pacific to Alaska and North America, then with intermediate landings in Iceland and Greenland across the Atlantic to Great Britain, Paris and Germany. The tour will continue to Vienna, Milan and back to Geneva, where the tour ends. Next to the crew a 500-piece Navitimer limited edition will also be onboard throughout the journey. Built in 1940, it was originally manufactured for American Airlines, used by the American Air Force for a short time, before resuming service on behalf of various commercial airlines From 1935 to 1945 more than 16,000 were built, including over 5,000 licensed buildings from Russia and Japan. Thus, the DC-3 is still today the most widely produced passenger or transport aircraft. After World War II, the military variant of the DC-3, the C-47, gained high popularity as “raisin bombers” during the Berlin airlift.
