JAMBI28TV, BATANGHARI - A rare event occurred at Mitra Medika Batanghari (MMB) Hospital in Batanghari Regency, Jambi, on Wednesday night. A young mother gave birth to healthy quadruplets. The four babies were born to Fathani Muttakin (30) and Madian (28), residents of Teluk Rendah Ilir Village, Tebo Ilir District, Tebo Regency, Jambi. The delivery was a combination of methods: the first two babies were born vaginally, while the other two were delivered by cesarean section. The hospital confirmed that the mother and all four babies are in good health. The babies are one boy and three girls. Labor began with the birth of the first baby at around 11:00 PM WIB, followed by the second baby half an hour later. The medical team then performed cesarean sections to deliver the third and fourth babies at 2:00 AM WIB. The weight of the four babies varied, as follows: First baby: 1.3 kg Second baby: 1.1 kg Third baby: 1.5 kg Fourth baby: 1.4 kg The father, Fathani Muttakin, admitted to being surprised because he initially suspected his wife was carrying twins. The first and second ultrasounds only detected two fetuses, while the third ultrasound identified triplets. However, when the baby was born, it turned out they were pregnant with quadruplets. "We initially planned to have a cesarean delivery at a hospital in Jambi at the start of Ramadan, but unexpectedly, our water broke early on Wednesday afternoon. We tried to transport them to Jambi, but we couldn't make it. This is a blessing from God that we accept with gratitude," said Fathani. Meanwhile, the Director of Mitra Medika Batanghari Hospital, Dr. Sudarmono, explained that two of the four twins had to be referred to Hamba Muara Bulian General Hospital due to limited medical equipment at their hospital. "They arrived around 9:58 PM WIB with blood and mucus already coming out. We performed treatment, and two babies were born naturally. However, one baby didn't descend, so the medical team decided to perform a cesarean section," explained Dr. Sudarmono. Currently, Fathani and Madian are still focused on the mother's recovery and the care of their babies. Therefore, they have not yet decided on names for their four children.
