He belonged to the Ikeda Ikkō Yasumitsu school. Kudan-to swords are generally categorized into three major schools: The Yasuhiro school The Yasunori school The Yasumitsu school In the art sword community, Kudan-to are recognized as "majime-na-katana" (honest and authentic swords). While I deeply admire their beautiful artistic form, what captivates me most is the spiritual essence they embody. I purchased this Yasushige sword to honor and connect with the spiritual legacy of the over 2.46 million Eirei (Heroic Spirits) enshrined at Yasukuni. This sacred number encompasses all those who gave their lives for the nation—spanning from the patriots of the Meiji Restoration to the tragic civilian casualties of war, including school children. They are all equally revered as the guardian deities of Japan.
