Phantasy Star Online - Why Do I Still Play This 20 Year Old Dreamcast Game?
Follow us at: / savepointsofa Phantasy Star Online came out in the year 2000 for the Dreamcast. The first time I fired the game up I knew I was playing something special. To this day it holds a special place in my heart with so many countless memories. Meeting great people, funny boss battles, the rare drops I was able to get, and so much more. But the game isn't perfect. In fact many people would consider PSO to be boring as can be. The game play loop is simple. The battle mechanics are monotonous as can be. The game is nothing but a grind and lacks any challenge. Yet it's just relaxing. And the community the game play loop breeds is one of the most uplifting and chill communities any where. Combine the relaxing, shut off your brain and just kick back gameplay with a chill community that just wants to also shut off their brain after a log day of work and you have just a happy little game. The perfect way to describe PSO 1. I still play PSO Blue Burst on the Ephinea server. Tried Ultima server, but found the Ephinea server to just be more my liking. I've been on there for awhile and usually come back for a little bit every year.
